Dhamma Puººa, meaning 'Land to Accrue Merits' , is located in the
Swargate area, opposite Nehru stadium, seven km from Pune railway station. Established
in 1999, the centre is a unique joint venture between the Pune Municipal Corporation
and the Pune Vipassana Trust.
Dhamma Puººa can presently serve 94 students. A Dhamma Hall can seat 100 as well as a smaller Dhamma Hall for discourses.
Monthly 10-day courses are held starting the first Sunday, as well as regular one-day and three-day courses. Besides children's courses, the centre also hosts a 15-day camp called ' Value Inculcation through Vipassana' - with a 10-day course and a workshop - for school and college teachers. Another highlight is an annual 10-day course held for visually challenged students.
Dhamma Puººa has special arrangements
for physically challenged students, with ramps for access to Dhamma Halls, dining
hall and rooms.
